“By winning these two awards, we hope to set a benchmark for other plastic manufacturers to follow,” said Mr. Lim Chun Yow, Chairman and Managing Director of BPPLAS, “these ISO certifications will definitely help create an eco-friendly working environment and position BBPLAS as a business entity that cares about the preservation of nature.”

The OHSAS 18001 certification enables BBPLAS to demonstrate our commitment to occupational health and safety, as well as to continuously improve our related management systems,” Lim added.

OHSAS 18001 is a specification for Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Management Systems jointly developed by a number of international third party certification bodies, national standards bodies, and other interested parties. The ISO 14001:2004 Environmental Management Systems (EMS) certification enables BBPLAS to demonstrate their commitment to the environment. The standard provides guidance on managing the environmental aspects of businesses’ activities more effectively, while taking into consideration environmental protection, pollution prevention and socioeconomic needs.

“With this, it can improve employee ethics and workplace. ISO 14001:2004 compliance can also provide companies with a better use of energy and resources, and reduce costs over time,” Lim said.
